Physiotherapy Assessment & Treatment

Dance Class_edited_edited_edited.jpg

What to expect

A one-on-one comprehensive initial assessment (45 minutes) will explore the root cause of your issue; I breakdown the why and the how your injury happened. I combine traditional orthopedic tests, functional and movement assessments to develop a plan designed just for you. Follow-up sessions vary from 30 to 60 minutes for your needs and your specific goals, always in a collaborative approach to guide you through your recovery. I focus on long term prevention to help you understand what happened to you. Be ready for homework that will help you build a strong, resilient body and healthy habits so you can live your best life!

WHEN TO SEE ME?

Come see me if you have an/a:

Acute injury: sports or leisure:

Whether you are just starting out with an activity or you look to improve your performance, it is important to look at the load and stress you have put on your body to determine the best plan of care to get you moving healthily again. Often requires modalities such as ultrasound, IMS/Acupuncture or taping to support your healing.

I offer expertise in dance medicine, return to sports rehabilitation, management of hypermobility, and injury prevention.

Pelvic, hip, back pain or tightness?

Women's Health questions?:

Are you having some difficulties with returning to activities after pregnancy? Do you have some incontinence (leaky bladder) and avoid jumping, running or moving? Do you want to return to lifting again but worry about your diastasis recti or leaking? We can explore pre- and post-natal care, ongoing incontinence and returning to activities with an initial assessment. I treat exclusively/only externally pelvic health issues using education, exercise prescription, manual therapy and IMS/ACU to name a few. I am happy to recommend an internal pelvic physio for clients who need an internal assessment. I am here to support the community of client who do not want an internal assessment. â€‹â€‹

Running Rehab Assessment:

I am a certified Running Clinic Therapist who performs running gait assessments which incorporates evidence-based knowledge as well as the latest trends in the running research. My Running Rehab Assessment involves a detailed examination of your running and training history, a comprehensive mobility and physical strength assessment and a thorough evaluation of your running biomechanics. I can help address these issues:

  • Pain during or after running including Achilles tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis, runners or jumper’s knee, patellofemoral pain, iliotibial band syndrome, piriformis syndrome.

  • Want to start running but are unsure how to begin.

  • Help improve your performance.

  • Answer questions about footwear and how to find the right one for you.

  • Finding the best combination of stretching and strengthening exercises for you.

  • Needing guidance with your training plan and how to balance your workouts with appropriate rest/recovery.

Curious about Core Rehab:

It is an integral part of my treatment plan to address the foundation of your movement patterns. I use principles of Pilates, yoga and Shirley Sahrmann to strengthen weak muscles and relax and lengthen tighter ones. We don't need a lot of equipment to rebuild and make change. I might use elastic bands, exercise balls or weights to create a custom core rehab program.
